Data Scientist (m/f) - Data Lab

Responsibilities

You work at the leading edge of the energy revolution for our business customers by taking new and innovative ideas from pilot to commercially viable reality. In doing that you will:

• Process huge sets of big unstructured data from internal systems in combination with external web data into actionable intelligence
• Design data models on RDBMS as well as in Hadoop HDFS, Hive and Hbase
• Implement batch and stream data ingesting methods including cleaning, pre-processing and verification of data integrity
• Program significant metrics and indicators with advanced analytical functions and machine learning in Spark, Spark streaming, R and Python
• Invent and implement real-time data stream analytics and complex event processing using Kafka and Storm
• Develop new advanced algorithms for time series predictions, condition monitoring, state change detection and asset optimization
• Perform explorative and ad-hoc data analysis, visualize results in an appealing manner and present the findings in clear statements to business partners

Qualifications

• Ph.D. or master degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, or related technical discipline
• Working experience as a data scientist with a deep understanding in statistics, machine learning and data mining
• Track record of coding data analysis in R, Python and SQL for structured and unstructured data sources
• Experience in data analysis on Hadoop, especially with Spark (pySpark or Scala) together with Hive and HBase
• Experience in programming real-time stream analytics and complex event processing with Spark Streaming, Kafka and Storm is considered as a plus
• Experience with Tableau or similar visualization tools is considered as a plus
• Real passion for science and problem solving by working on data, paired with a strong motivation to deliver valuable solutions for business needs
• Enjoying collaborating internationally and across cultural borders, willing to undertake international business travel
• Excellent writing and communication skills, considering varying levels of precision and matching the audience
• Fluent in English; German language skills are seen as a plus
