Conceptual Design Engineer (m/f)


Responsibilities

The Conceptual Design Engineer will lead the evaluation of customer’s energy demand, the identification of the best technical concept producing the demanded energy, the best way to integrate this on-site generation solution into client’s existing infrastructure and the definition of the respective purchasing strategy including the set-up of technical specifications with respect to ECT`s energy projects, primarily based on cogeneration and steam production.

The main duties are:

  • Ensure that the bid team (PM, Sales and O&M) develops technically and commercially viable projects by evaluation of client’s existing infrastructure and development of a concept design for on-site generation solutions.
  • Provide independent technical/commercial input to proposed energy solutions and support Sales/Commercial activities by assessing:
    • Technical and commercial feasibility & risks
    • Best fitting conceptual design solution incl. evaluation of existing infrastructure and Client’s processes to define energies demand
    • Selection of plant and equipment
    • Capital Expenditure
    • Perform technical due diligence in M&A/buy-out projects
  • Assist the Bid Team Managers in the negotiations with customers to secure the right delivery strategy
  • Select and coordinate external engineering companies and consultants for basic design
  • Cooperate with other disciplines during the Project execution to ensure proper detailed engineering is developed by Owner Engineers and by Suppliers/Contractors
  • Provide comment and oversight of proposed project strategies to minimize design and construction risk
  • Lead Design Reviews during Project execution
  • Responsible for creation and influence of innovative technical solutions in line with ECT’s commercial strategy, assisting continuous growth, whilst exceeding customer expectations in the ECT B2B Large market
  • Advising operation department on enhancements and/or rectification works to improve operational efficiencies

Qualifications

  • Master Degree in Engineering
  • Extensive knowledge of commercial on-site generation technologies (i.e. gas engine, CHP, steam boiler, absorption chillers, Ground-source Heat-pumps)
  • Experience in project management work
  • Extensive experience in managing multi-disciplinary project teams so that they achieve their full potential and produce a successful project
  • Full understanding of regulatory, technical and commercial drivers of ESCO models
  • Intercultural skills
  • Fluent in English and German, other language skills are appreciated
